Under - 21 Football Championship:
Donaghmore 0-08 Errigal Ciaran 0-09.
Donaghmore Under - 21's suffered from an Errigal Ciaran 'smash and grab' as
the County champions stole a win they scarcely deserved in the Under - 21 Championship
at Fr Eamon Devlin Park last Sunday. Over the hour Donaghmore put in an excellent
performance, played superior football, and led from the front throughout only
to see a 3 - point lead pegged back over the last 10 minutes and then suffer
a winning point for the Ballygawley men some 4 minutes into time added on. An
exceptional Donaghmore full back line tackled like warriors for the 60 minutes
and deserved better. Up front Errigal never really got to grips with the exciting
duo of Niall McGinn and Shane Mulgrew whilst an early injury to Niall McKenna
was to cost the team throughout the game. Despite that, if Donaghmore had taken
even some of their many missed chances and not had the misfortune of seeing
a 35 - -yard free 3 minutes into injury - time bounce back off the upright,
then they would have progressed. The future is bright for this talented group
of players and many have shown that they will galvanise the Senior squad next
year. We would like to wish Errigal Ciaran every success in the remainder of
the competition. After a promising Adult season including a Championship Semi
- Final appearance, that nobody in the Club would have predicted, and a Reserve
squad that challenged strongly for honours, there’s plenty to build on
in 2008 as everybody takes a deserved winters break.
Team: C Quinn, J McCaughey, A Fulton, R Falls, C Hetherington,
D McCaul, S McKillion, A Donaghy and N McKenna, F McCluskey, P Doherty (0-01),
D Toner, M Ace, S Mulgrew (0-03), N McGinn (0-04). Subs: K O'Neill and J McCann.
With the Adult season ended we would like to thank all those who played football
in 2007 and the Management teams who gave of their time to guide them - Joe
Faloon, Tony McCann, Steven Rice, Darren Torres and the many others who helped
out in 2007 in different capacities. Congratulations to Shane Mulgrew and Niall
McGinn who have been nominated for Team Talk Tyrone All Star Awards. The lads
will be trying to emulate the achievements of Damien McCaul who was honoured
with an Award last year.
Youth Celebration Night: Over 150 parents children and guests packed into The Gables for the Annual Youth Celebration night last Friday. The night was a great success and we would like to thank Tyrone and Ulster legend Conor Gormley who spoke on the night. We would also like to thank McGuigan Construction and the Adult football squads who sponsored new club tops for the Under - 13's and Under - 14's who won and reached the final of their competitions respectively. Thanks to our Youth Officer Peadar and all team managements and players throughout 2007 for their commitment.
Lotto: Congratulations to Vivian McCann who scooped the jackpot last week.
Scor Na nOg: Thanks to all those who represented the club in Scor competition this year.
70's night: Please visit www.donaghmoregfc.com for updated details on the forthcoming club 70s night in The Fort.
Sympathy: The club would like to extend their sympathy to the McVeigh family on the death of Margaret O’Donnell, Edendork, the Nugent family on the death of Charlie Nugent, Galbally and the McGurk family on the death of Peter Ferris Ballygawley. May they rest in peace.
Club Notes from November 12th 2007.
‘70s night: Where you hip in the 1970's? Well then prove it, and keep Friday 30th November free, as there will be a chance to strut you stuff in all your old gear in a Club ‘70s theme night in The Fort. More details will follow.
Under 21 Championship: The Under - 21's will entertain Errigal Ciaran in a Championship match fixed for 2 PM on Sunday at Fr Eamon Devlin Park.
Sympathy: The Club would like to extend their sympathies to the Kelly, McKenna and Rice families on the death of Jim Kelly, Galbally.
Club Notes from November 5th 2007.
Night At The Races: The Night at the Races proved to be a great event in the Fort last Sunday evening, with a large crowd supporting the event and many more buying horses. Congratulations to the organisers and thanks to The Fort for their hospitality and Christopher for his John McCrirrick style punditry.
Lotto: The lotto numbers last week were 1, 6, 18 and 19. There were 11 Match 3 winners. Next weeks jackpot is £2,300.
Youth: The Annual Youth Football celebration night will take place on 16th November at 7:30PM in The Gables and the children attending will be from Under - 12's to Under - 16's. Anybody that is wishing to attend please reply to Peadar McCann by this Sunday.
Club Notes from October 29th 2007.
Night @ the Races: Please come along to what promises to be a good evenings craic next Sunday evening as the Club are organising a Night at the Races taking place in The Fort. The first race starts at 8:00PM.
Adult Football: The Seniors and Reserves both suffered defeats away to Carrickmore last Sunday.
Gala Dinner: There are only a few Gala dinner tables still available. Please contact any committee member if you wish to attend the event.
Sympathy: The club would like to extend their sympathy to the families of Michael Conlon (Drumhirk) and Brian Clarke (Galbally).
Club Notes from October 22nd 2007.
St Patrick’s GFC – a Gold Club - What an honour it was to be awarded the Gold Award in Club Maith at the Ulster Club and Community Development Conference at Stormont hotel last weekend! This was the top award available to a GAA club with no hurling/camogie team, and it was a privilege for the club to be special guests of the Ulster GAA Council on what proved to be an historic GAA occasion. Donaghmore were the first club in Ireland to go through the Club Maith process and were the first on the day to be presented with their Award, which was accepted by Club Chairman Raymond McCluskey from GAA president Nicky Brennan. The Award means that Donaghmore GFC has been accredited as being at the very top of its field in terms of governance, strategic planning, financial management;, health and safety, child protection, excellence in facilities and promotion of Gaelic sports, culture and equality. John O’Neill excelled in his presentation of the Donaghmore approach to strategic planning in front of 400 delegates from clubs within Ulster. The delegates there took a major interest in the clubs forthcoming new facilities and its financial model, in particular how the local community and business people were actively involved in the realisation of the complex. The evening before members of the Donaghy, Hughes, Coary and McQuaid families represented the club providing traditional music at an invitational event run by the Ulster Council also in Stormont Hotel.
Youth Football - Congratulations
to our hugely talented Under - 13 squad comprising 28 young footballers who
are under the tutelage of Joe Daly, Damian Grimes, Francie Lavery, Peadar McCann
and Raymond McCluskey and who won the Under - 13 League title defeating Trillick
last Friday night under Floodlights at Clogher. St Pats's won comfortably in
the end but in the first - half a thrilling game was end - to - end with a competitive
young Trillick side more than playing their part. To see the Under - 13 trophy
up at the Cross on Friday evening certainly whets the appetite for 2008 and
beyond. The team and management can take a well earned break before the fun
starts again next year.
Adult Football: The Reserves gained revenge for a 4 - point defeat earlier in the season when they defeated Ardboe by 1 point in a thriller in Ardboe. This team remains up at the very top of the League with an exciting final few weeks in store. Despite other results going their way the Senior squad will have been disappointed with their performance against Ardboe. However with a number of experienced men out injured and lacking a little luck they played second fiddle at the loughshore and Ardboe won fairly comfortably in the end.
Lotto: Last weeks Lotto
numbers were 2, 4, 13 and 15. There were 3 match 3 winners. This weeks jackpot
is £2,200.
Club Notes from October 1st 2007.
Adult Football: The Seniors defeated Coalisland in the ACL Division 1A with a rampant second half display last Saturday triumphing by 0-07 to 0-15 to move into 5th place just one point behind 4th place Errigal Ciaran. The reserves earlier had an impressive 2-05 to 0-12 win over the hosts at Fr Peter Campbell park. They now sit very impressively in 3rd place in the ACL, just 4 points off the leaders with 3 games in hand.
Secretary's Statement: The Committee of Donaghmore GFC would like to clear up any confusion over an issue with the Championship Semi - Final last weekend. There was an opinion circulating that Dungannon GFC refused to give Donaghmore access to their facilities in the week leading up to the match. On behalf of Donaghmore GFC, I wish to categorically state that this was definitely not the case, and indeed Dungannon were more than accommodating to Donaghmore, both in their treatment of players and management, as well as providing some of our supporters with walking difficulties access to the ground in their vehicles. Again, I wish to thank Dungannon for their hospitality and wish them all the best for the remainder of the 2007 season. Pauric Gallagher (Secretary).
Youth Snippets: The Under - 13's are playing well at the moment and put in another strong display against Kildress on Friday resulting in a win. They have now qualified as section winners for the League Semi Final, which will be played at Fr Eamon Devlin Park. Details will be announced shortly. Training continues for the boys at 6:30 PM on Tuesday nights. Last weekend, our Under - 8's enjoyed a trip to Adventure World as reward for all their hard work this year. Coaching for the Under - 8's and Under - 10's has now finished for the year. We would like to thank Aidan, Martin, Michael and Clifford for all their efforts and those who helped out with the various blitzes throughout the year.

Seniors defeat Errigal Ciaran: Donaghmore 0-11 Errigal Ciaran 0-09. St Patrick’s Seniors finally got that dreaded monkey off their back last Friday evening in front of huge and passionate support at resplendent Healy Park, Omagh, defeating Errigal Ciaran for the first time in the Championship since 1998. Over the hour, and indeed the hour and a half Donaghmore had been the better football team throughout, but Errigal are a class act and the determined Tyrone Champions would simply not give up and made things very nervy for St Pats in the last 10 minutes. Overall it was a fine team performance but manager Joe Faloon will know that the in - form Coalisland Fianna will present a massive test in the semi final if Donaghmore are to bridge a 47 year gap and take their place on county final day. Congratulations to the team and management on making it back to the Semi - Final stage. O'Neill Cup Quarter - Final Donaghmore versus Errigal Ciaran: The Senior Championship Quarter - Final against Errigal Ciaran on Saturday 1st September, was abandoned due to an Errigal Ciaran player collapsing at half - time. Donaghmore were leading by 1-06 to 0-06 at half - time, and Errigal had been reduced to 14 men, with their full back straight red carded for an off - the - ball offence just as the half - time whistle blew. As Donaghmore prepared to come out for the second - half, word then filtered through of the seriousness of the situation in the opposing dressing - room, and that the powers that be had taken a decision to call the match off. Incidents like this really puts football into perspective and Donaghmore GFC would like to wish Errigal’s Paul Quinn a speedy return to full health. The game will now be played at 8:00PM this Friday in Omagh. Good luck to St Patrick's team and management as they attempt to get to this years semi- final.

The clubs procedures on finance, health and safety, child protection, culture and coaching amongst others were all placed under scrutiny and the extensive process lasting several months had been completed by midday Saturday. We would like to thank all those who assisted in the work involved over the last number of months up to and including Saturday. We have been honoured to be the first club to undergo this examination. Club Notes from July 2nd 2007.
Lotto: The Lotto numbers this week were 4, 6, 10 and 22. Fifteen people matched 3 numbers.
Annual Golf Day 2007: Thanks to all who sponsored the club's Golf Day, all who played in and all who helped out in any way, from within the club and also those at Dungannon Golf Club. There were 42 teams vying for the major prizes on what proved to be a glorious interlude of fine weather in what had been quite an adverse, unpromising week. Some fine team performances were recorded with the winners on 129 points being K Hagan, S Coary, N Bullock and K O'Donnell. Their prize was 2 rounds of Golf and an overnight stay at Knightsbrook Golf and Country Club, Co Meath. The 2nd prize of 1 round of Golf at the Slieve Russell was won by D Hamilton, J Cavlan, P McNulty and D McCann on 127 points. The 3rd Prize of gift vouchers for Dungannon Golf Shop was won by P Doherty, J McCann, C McKenna and T McCall with 125 points. Marc McCausland won the longest drive at the 13th hole, whilst Nearest the Pin on the 11th was won by Conor McKenna. The 9th hole had a competition for Marie Curie Cancer Care - an electric Golf Buggy was won by Paul O Neill whilst S.T. Hughes won a Titleist driver. A ticket draw with an overnight stay for 2 at the Bettystown Golf and Country Club was won by Steven Rice, with Marisa Nugent winning £150 and Kathleen McGahan £100. Overall the day was another enjoyable social occasion for the club members and friends.
Adult Football: Both Seniors and Reserves travelled to Dunmoyle to take on County Champions Errigal Ciaran in the ACL last Sunday. Both teams have had better evenings and on this occasion, the Errigal juggernaut was unstoppable as they sent out a Championship forewarning.
Youth Snippets: The Under - 12 and Under - 16 games last week were both cancelled. This Thursday 5th July, the Under - 16's travel to Moortown. The bus leaves the club at 6:45PM. The Under - 12's train on Monday at 7:00PM. There will be no Under - 10 and Under - 8 training on Monday 9th or Monday 16th July. Training will resume on Monday 23rd and continue throughout the summer.

Club Notes from June 25th 2007.
Golf Day: This Friday we will have our Annual Golf Day at Dungannon Golf Club and it promises to be a cracking day. Good luck to all the teams participating as they vie for the tremendous prizes. There are still a few spaces for teams…. please contact Patsy Hetherington 87767718 for details.
Youth: Under - 14 Grade 2 Championship Final - Donaghmore’s brave attempt to win the Under - 14 Tyrone Championship for the first time since 1988 ended in disappointment in Edendork last Saturday. A young talented Donaghmore side struggled against a physically stronger Loughmacrory side losing out eventually by 1-07 to 0-05. A first half goal by the Loughmacrory captain Niall Donaghy proved to be the difference between the sides whilst Donaghmore, despite having up to 4 goal chances over the hour, were unable to hit the net. Despite their loss congratulations must go to this hard working panel of players who have had an exceptional League campaign and , well if you are going to be beat you might as well make it to a County Final. Their experience will stand to them in years to come and they will be better footballers for it. A word of thanks to Joe Daly and Raymond McCluskey ably assisted by Francie Lavery who put in a wealth of work with this team this year. Congratulations also to Loughmacrory on their impressive win. The Panel that took Donaghmore to the County Final in 2007 were (and scorers) was as follows:
Matthew Mc Cann, Tiernan Lambe, Peter McKenna, Aidan Lavery, Darren Litter, Kevin McGuckin, Phillip Donnelly, Aidan McCluskey (0-01), Sean Mc Crory, Shea Hamill, Deasuan Quinn (0-01), Peter McCann, Richard Kelly (0-01f), Mathew McCaul (0-02f), Cormac McCann. Subs: Matthew Mulgrew for C McCann, Shane Quinn for R Kelly. Blood Sub: Colm McCluskey for A Lavery. Sean Donnelly, Ciaran McCann, Marc McGahan, Paul Begley, Glen Burnett, Caolan McGuone, Conall Christie and Colm Sharkey.
Minors exit Championship: After a superb first round victory over Augher, a talented Greencastle Minor team ended Donaghmore's Championship ambitions for 2007. Despite falling behind by 11 points at half time, Donaghmore fought bravely back, as has been their hallmark throughout the season, but unfortunately time ran out for them and they lost by 3 points. We would like to thank our entire Minor panel for 2007 and their management team of Eugene McKenna and Tony Loughran who were assisted by Francie Lavery. All players who are now finished with Minor football are asked to come to Senior and Reserve training for the rest of the season.
Youth Snippets: The Under - 16's were defeated by Dungannon Clarkes last Thursday. This Thursday evening, they travel to Brackaville for a throw in at 7:30pm. The Under - 8's had a great blitz on Saturday in Eglish. Thanks to the Eglish club for their hospitality. Under - 8 and Under - 10 training continues Monday nights at 7:00PM. All are welcome. The Under - 12's train every Thursday at 7:00PM.
Adult Football: The Seniors and Reserves match versus Dromore was postponed at the weekend due to bereavement. The Reserves recent losing run came to an end with an impressive victory over Galbally by 4 points - Final score 1-12 to 1-08. Errigal Ciaran provide the opposition in Dunmoyle this weekend for both Adult teams.
Ulster Final 2007: Any
club member wishing to receive tickets for the Ulster Senior Football Final
versus Monaghan on the 15th July, please submit their request in writing to
Club Secretary Pauric Gallagher before Friday 6th July.
Lotto: Congratulations to Paddy Doran who won the jackpot last Monday. The numbers drawn were 7, 8, 17 and 18. This week’s jackpot is £2,000.
Committee Meeting: The
next Committee Meeting shall take place on Monday 2nd July at 7:30PM.
Club Notes from June 18th 2007.
Golf day: Please register
your team as soon as possible for our annual Golf Day on Friday 29th June, at
Dungannon Golf Course. Please contact Patsy Hetherington 87767718.
Reserve Championship:
A busy week for the Reserves, but unfortunately not a successful one. On Wednesday
they suffered a 5 point defeat to Carrickmore at Fr Eamon Devlin Park whilst
on Saturday they lost to Clonoe by 6 points in the Championship. Despite trailing
by only one point at half time, several missed chances were to cost Donaghmore
dearly and an impressive Clonoe squad who reportedly have serious Championship
credentials exacted revenge for
their Senior teams Championship exit to our Seniors. Team: P McCaughey, C Hetherington,
A Fulton, D Hackett; K O'Neill, J Grimes, J McCaughey, S McDermott, A Donaghy,
S McKillion, M Ace, B Mullen, N Quinn, A McNulty; C McGinn.
Subs: M Hetherington. J Hetherington.
Seniors: The Seniors
were unable to breach a strong Carrickmore defence after a disastrous start
in their League game on Wednesday. The difference between the teams was that
Carrickmore scored 2 early goals when they were in
ascendancy, but despite dominating the second half the home side were unable
to get through a determined Carrickmore defence. Final score: 0-09 to 2-05.
This Sunday both teams are to play Dromore at home.
Tyrone reach Ulster Final:
Congratulations to Damian and Kelvin and the Tyrone panels and management at
Senior and Minor level as the Red hands progressed to Ulster Final duty after
impressive victories over Armagh and Donegal at
the weekend.
Good luck to Megan McCann and Natalie
Hughes who will play for Tyrone Under - 16 Ladies in the First round of the
Championship versus Monaghan on Saturday in Donaghmore.
Youth: The Under - 10's
attended a successful blitz in Eglish on Saturday and we would like to thank
the host club for their hospitality. This Saturday the Under - 8's will travel
to Eglish. Transport leaves the club at 10AM sharp. Training for Under - 12's
every Thursday at 7:00 PM. The Under - 16's begin their League campaign at home
to Dungannon on
Thursday at 7:30PM. The Minors play Greencastle away in the Quarter - Final
of the Championship at 7:30PM on Tuesday 19th June. The Under - 14's are in
the Final of the Championship this Saturday. We would request all our supporters
to turn up and give the lads our support as they attempt to bring the second
cup of the year to Donaghmore.
Sympathy: The club would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of former player Hugh Carson.
Club Notes from June 11th 2007.
Golf Day: Teams are coming in for what promises to be the most successful Annual Golf Day yet. To register your team for Friday 29th June, please contact Patsy Hetherington 8776 7718.
Youth Football: Congratulations to the Under 14's - The club received a fantastic boost this week when Donaghmore Under 14's made the Final of the 2007 Championship after a heroic extra - time victory over Eskra in Carrickmore on Saturday. In the searing heat the game was a credit to both teams and whatever was said to the boys before extra time certainly worked as the young St Pats took total control to run out winners by 4-14 to 1-09. Congratulations to the team and management and as a club we look forward to our first Male Final of 2007 having already witnessed the Girls Minors win their Championship. Date and time have yet to be confirmed but we would urge our entire club membership and support to be ready to come out and support the lads whenever the details are announced. The Under 12's had a fine win over Edendork last week. Training continues on Thursdays at 7:00PM. We hosted the second round of the Under 8 blitz last Saturday. Everyone present agreed that there was a lot of talent on display. Well done to all the attendees especially those who helped out and made refreshments. Training for Under 10's and 8's continues every Monday from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Any newcomers to the area are encouraged to attend our sessions at any level throughout the club.
Tyrone Summer Camp: We will be hosting our first Tyrone summer camp between July 30th and 2nd August. This is a great opportunity for all those between the ages of 7 to 12 years who wish to learn the skills of Gaelic Football from qualified Coaches. They will also receive a Club Tyrone kit, backpack and Football. Application forms are available from the club, primary schools and our club website. Any club coaches wishing to coach at this please contact P McCann as soon as possible.
Minor Championship: Our Minors continue their championship quest next Tuesday away to Greencastle. This is sure to be a tough fixture so once again we need all the support we can muster.
Adult Football: The Reserves lost their unbeaten start to the season with a 4-point defeat against table toppers Ardboe in a competitive league game at resplendent Fr Eamon Devlin. Final score 1-10 to 1-14. In front of large Friday evening crowd, the Seniors had better luck turning a half time one-point deficit into a 5-point winning margin against a highly competitive Ardboe team. In a thrilling game, Ardboe were probably the better team in the first half and it took a prolonged period of pressure from Donaghmore after the break to put daylight between the sides. Final score: Donaghmore 0-16 to Ardboe 0-11. The Reserves/Seniors next games will be against Carrickmore on Wednesday evening at Fr Eamon Devlin Park with throw in times of 6:45PM and 8:15PM.
Tir Eoghain Abu! Good luck to Kelvin, Damian and the Tyrone team and management as they travel to Clones to play Championship favourites Donegal on Sunday.
May Gala Dinner: Don’t forget planning is underway for the May Gala dinner, this major club event, taking place at the Great Northern Hotel, Golf and Leisure centre next 3rd May. New Arrival: Congratulations
to our American domiciled former Senior goalkeeper, Patrick Mc Kenna and his
wife Marie on the recent birth of Ailish Marie.
Lotto: Last weeks lotto
numbers were 11, 14, 19 and 21. There were 9 match 3 winners. This weeks jackpot
is £3,200.

Annual Golf Day 2007: Keep Friday 29th June free for our Annual Golf day. Please contact Patsy Hetherington 87767718 or any committee member for details on the event.
Adult Football: In wet and wintry conditions in Killeeshil last Sunday, the Reserves defeated the home club in the League by 12 points to 4 and continue to impress this year. The Seniors maintained their League challenge with a 1-08 to 2-13 victory over the St Mary’s with 2 second half goals by Shane Mulgrew and Patrick Doherty helping them seal the win. The Seniors have been drawn against last years O’Neill cup champions Errigal Ciaran in the Quarter Finals of the Championship.
Youth Football: Congratulations to Donaghmore’s own Deasuan Quinn who helped Acadamh Naomh Padraig Dun Geanainn win the D'Alton Cup last week. The Under 14's produced a gritty performance in an entertaining game to overcome a strong Coalisland team to reach the Championship Semi Final. This Semi Final will be on Saturday against Eskra with time and venue to be confirmed. Watch out for the posters on shop windows. Donaghmore will host an Under 8 blitz on Saturday 9th in Donaghmore. All players please report to the dressing rooms at 10:00AM. All help welcome from 9:30 AM. Training continues on Monday evenings for the Under 8/10s at 7:00 until 8:00 PM. Everyone especially those new to the area are welcome to come along. The Under 12's continue to train on Thursday nights at 7:00PM. We would like to appeal to any young lads in the Carland, Donaghmore and Castlecaulfield to come along and try out Gaelic Football at your local club. The Minors lost a 5 - point lead at half time to lose by 5 points to Moortown and this concludes their involvement in the League for 2007.
Lotto numbers: Last weeks
lotto numbers were 9, 11, 16 and 20. There were 6 match 3 winners. This week’s
jackpot is £3,100.
Sympathy: St Patrick’s GFC would like to extend their
sympathy to the Kelly family (Galbally) and McGinn family, Lismore on their
recent bereavements.
Club Notes from May 29th 2007.
Annual Golf Day 2007: Please enter your team ASAP for our Annual Golf day on Friday 29th June. This year’s event takes place as usual in Dungannon Golf Club and a bumper number of entries are expected. Please contact Patsy Hetherington on 8776 7718 or any committee member for details on the event.
O’Neill Cup: St Patrick’s GFC safely negotiated the first hurdle in the O'Neill Cup last Saturday evening in Edendork defeating Clonoe by 1-08 to 0-07. It was not a game for the purists – the early evening torrential downpour on a freshly cut pitch, putting paid to hopes of a great game of football, but both teams settled to the task as best they could and it was Clonoe who started better, with the St Pat's first edging in front for the first time with 10 minutes of the first half to go. During this period Niall Mc Ginn and Shane Mulgrew were the main threats up front. An opportunistic goal for the industrious Kelvin Hughes would turn out to be the crucial score in the game and put a little daylight between the teams – 3 points at the end of the first half – a lead Donaghmore scarcely deserved. A revitalised Donaghmore in the second half were dominant with Brian Robinson, Sean Mc Caul and Colly Mc Nally playing the shirts of their backs and Clonoe struggled to make any sort of inroads into the Donaghmore lead. Indeed it was one of them days were the sleeves were rolled up and every man played their part with Darren Cush, Daniel Grimes and Seamus Mulgrew controlling the middle third of the field and keeping the lions share of the O’Neill's leather in the hands of the blue and gold jerseys. Well done to the team and management and hard luck to Clonoe on a sporting game. Team which lined out was as follows: David Doherty, Sean McCaul, Brian Robinson, Colly McNally, Pauric Gallagher, Damian McCaul, Gary Hetherington, Kelvin Hughes and Seamus Mulgrew, Richard Hetherington, Darren Cush, Shane Mulgrew, Niall Mc Caul, Daniel Grimes, Niall Mc Ginn. Sub: Patrick Doherty for Richard Hetheringon. The draw for the Quarter Finals of the O'Neill Cup will be made next weekend.
Youth Football: The big news this week is that Donaghmore will host a Club Tyrone Summer Camp at Fr Eamon Devlin Park from Monday 30th July to Thursday 2nd August. See Peadar Mc Cann or visit our website for more details. Remember places are limited so apply early. The Under 10 blitz was a great success last Saturday. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped out. The Under 12's also enjoyed a fine tournament in Galbally and once again thanks to our parish neighbours for their organisation and hospitality. The Under 14's play their championship Quarter Final tonight (Tuesday) night in Donaghmore at 7:15PM versus Coalisland. All support is welcome. Training continues on Monday evenings for the Under 8/10s at 7:00PM. Everyone especially those new to the area are welcome to come along. The Under 12's continue to train on Thursday nights at 7:00PM. We would like to appeal to any young lads in the Carland, Donaghmore and Castlecaulfield areas to come along and try out Gaelic Football at your local club.
Lotto: Last weeks lotto
numbers were 7, 12, 18 and 19. There were 3 match 3 winners. This week’s
jackpot is £3,000.
Ladies: Tyrone Minor Champions 2007!!!!! Congratulations to
our ladies team who defeated a strong Fr Rocks team in the County Minor Grade
2 Final last Sunday. The girls were trailing for most of the game but stuck
to the task and got their reward with a late winning point. The entire squad
and management were heroes on the day, the historic achievement marked by scenes
of great celebration as captain Nuala McCann lifted the Minor trophy for the
first time in Donaghmore’s history. The talented Rebecca McCrory picked
up Player of the Match for the Final, but the club takes great pride in this
achievement and congratulates those who have brought this success to the ladies
after such a short period of existence. Well done to the history makers of 2007
– the Donaghmore Minor squad and management, Denise, Joanne, Oliver and
also Emma.
Club Notes from May 22nd 2007.
Annual Golf Day 2007: Keep Friday 29th June free for our Annual Golf day – firmly established as one of the biggest social events on the clubs calendar. This year’s event takes place as usual in Dungannon Golf Club and a bumper number of entries are expected so submit your team early. Please contact Patsy Hetherington on 8776 7718 or any committee member for details on the event.
Adult Football: It's always tough to take on Galbally in their own back yard, but after Donaghmore Seniors lost their unbeaten start to the league the previous week, they managed to bounce back with a 1-08 to 1-10 victory in a good competitive and sporting game last Thursday. This result keeps them in joint second place on 9 points from 6 games in what is rapidly turning out to be a very competitive league. Congratulations to Senior player Damian McCaul who made an impressive intercounty championship debut coming on a sub against Fermanagh and well done to him, Kelvin Hughes and the entire Tyrone panel on their progression to an Ulster semi - final against Donegal or Armagh.
O’Neill Cup: This
weekend it’s all about the championship. Clonoe are the form team in the
O Neill Cup having disposed of last year’s finalists Carrickmore in the
Preliminary round scoring some great goals in the process. Donaghmore will have
their work cut out for them and we would appreciate a full turn out of support
in club colours to cheer on the lads in Edendork this Saturday at 6:00 PM. An
Domhnach Mhor abu!
Sympathy: St Patrick’s
GFC would like to extend their sympathy to the Rafferty family Mullaghconnor
on their recent bereavement.
Congratulations:Congratulations
to Ladies chairperson Nuala Gallagher and Dominic Mc Teague (Dromore) who tied
the knot last Friday.
Youth Football: The Under 14's were defeated in the League
Quarter Final last weekend up in Newtownstewart. It was just one of those days
when nothing went right for the lads. They will hope to make amends when they
play Coalisland on Tuesday week at 7:00 at home in the championship. There will
be an Under 10 blitz in Donaghmore on Saturday morning. Players are expected
to be there at 10:00AM. All help to be there at 9:30AM. The Minors play Moortown
in their last league game on Wednesday night at 7:00PM in Moortown. Training
continues on Monday evenings for the Under 8/10s at 7:00PM. Everyone especially
those new to the area are welcome to come along. The Under 12's continue to
train on Thursday nights at 7:00PM. We would like to appeal to any young lads
in the Carland, Donaghmore and Castlecaulfield areas to come along and try out
Gaelic Football at your local club.
Lotto: Last weeks lotto
numbers were 14, 16, 20 and 22. There were 3 match 3 winners. This week’s
jackpot is £2,900.
Ladies: Good luck to the ladies Minor team who are due to play
Cookstown this Saturday in the Minor championship final.
Club Notes from May 15th 2007.
Annual Golf Day 2007: Keep Friday 29th June free for our Annual Golf day – firmly established as one of the biggest social events on the clubs calendar. This year’s event takes place as usual in Dungannon Golf Club and a bumper number of entries are expected so submit your team early. More details next week.
Adult Football: Donaghmore Senior’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end after a one point defeat to Coalisland Fianna at home on Sunday by 1-10 to 2-08. Darren Cush grabbed the Donaghmore goal and a few points by Niall Mc Ginn had threatened to spoil the Coalisland party but it would have been unfair on Coalisland who were the better team on the day. This Thursday the Seniors travel to Galbally for a game at 7:30PM, whilst the Reserves are due to travel to our parish neighbours on Friday. Please check the papers and club website for the latest times. The Reserves maintained their impressive unbeaten start to the season overturning a 3 point half time deficit to win by 4 points in a thrilling second half. A fantastic Matthew Ace finish early in the second half had set the teams up for a cracking finish and whilst points by Mark Hetherington, Fintan Mc Cluskey, Conor Mc Ginn and a couple of frees by Steven Mc Dermott had gave Donaghmore a slender advantage it took a superb late strike by Clifford Donaghy after Simon Toner had picked him out, to finally put the game beyond the brave Coalisland challenge. Whilst manager Tony Mc Cann and assistant Darren Torres know its early days they must be pleased with their team’s start to the season. Final score 2-13 to 2-09.
O’Neill Cup: We now know that we have a tricky tie with Clonoe in the first round of the championship on the weekend of 25/26/27th May (subject to Tyrone and Fermanagh ending in a result this weekend). More details will be announced next week.
Youth Football: The Under 8's had a useful morning in Edendork last Saturday winning their two games in the blitz. Thanks are extended to the Edendork club on their organisation and hospitality. Training continues on Monday evenings for the under 8/10s at 7:00PM. Everyone especially those new to the area are welcome to come along. The Under 12's continue to train on Thursday nights at 7:00PM. If you are interested please come along. Derrylaughan defeated our Minors 2-08 to 1-10 in the league last Wednesday, in very difficult conditions. The referee had to halt proceedings for 15 minutes due to a downpour and Donaghmore struggled to cope when the game restarted. The Under 14's will travel to Newtownstewart to play a League Quarter Final against the home side on Saturday at 4:00PM
Lotto numbers: Last weeks
lotto numbers were 7, 17, 19 and 23. There were 9 match 3 winners. This weeks
jackpot is £2,800.
Sympathy: St Patrick's GFC would like to offer their condolences to the McVeigh family, Ivybank.
Club Notes from May 8th 2007.
Adult football: The Seniors and Reserves will play Coalisland at home this Sunday in the ACL. Times to be confirmed.
Youth Football: Minor
Championship 1st Round: Augher 1-11 Donaghmore 1-13. Augher versus Donaghmore
at youth level over the past few years have been very close and both teams have
been near the honours at various levels so the potential was there for a great
battle. Last years Tyrone county minor finalists Donaghmore, showed their determination
to have a Championship run this year as well with a character oozing last 20
minutes of football that turned a 6-point deficit into an unlikely 2 point victory.
With 20 minutes on the clock in the first half the St Patrick’s were looking
nervous in front of goal having missed as many chances as Augher had scored.
They trailed 7 points to 2 with frees coming from Mark Faloon and Dan Toner.
Two further placed balls from the feet of Faloon and Toner kept Donaghmore in
the game but a defensive mix up was to prove costly as Augher boxed in a scrappy
goal, and few in the travelling crowd would have been content at half time,
despite Niall Mc Kenna hitting a sweet reply from play. When Augher stretched
their lead to 1-08 to 0-05 at the start of the second half it looked beyond
Donaghmore. However the management will have been pleased with the manner in
which the team brought themselves back into the game. With Daniel Toner, Mark
Faloon, Leigh Falls and Declan Mc Gahan taking the game by the scruff of the
neck, the balance of the game changed entirely. Donal Lavery and Christopher
Mc Gee helped shore up the defence and the game started to be played in the
home teams half. Points from M Faloon, Declan Mc Gahan, Brendan O Donnell and
Daniel Toner brought the scores to 1-09 to 0-09 with 12 minutes left. This was
a period of unrelenting pressure by Donaghmore and the hard work of the team
in blue and gold was rewarded when Declan Mc Gahan toepoked a loose ball into
the net off the base of the post. An inspirational point by corner back Conor
Hegarty was followed by a blockbuster effort from Mark Faloon after great work
by Eoin Donaghy and Niall Mc Kenna, which ensured that a final insurance point
by Dominic Donaghy would prove to be enough as Augher could only muster a last
gasp point to leave the final score - Augher 1-11 to Donaghmore 1- 13. This
team will know they were perhaps fortunate to get out of Augher with a win but
they will also have been content that they are still in the Championship after
a tremendously spirited second half performance enjoyed by their travelling
supporters family and friends. Hard luck to Augher for a spirited and sporting
game.
Team: C Quinn, C Hegarty(0-01), D Lavery, R Ace, C Nevin, C McGee,
E Donaghy, N McKenna(0-01), D Toner(0-03/0-02 frees), M Faloon (0-05/0-04 frees),
D Donaghy(0-01), L Falls, R Gallagher, B O'Donnell (0-01), D McGahan (1-01).
Sub: C Loughran for L Falls.
Youth Snippets: The Under
14's have qualified for the quarter finals in the League and Championship football.
Well done to the team and management. The Under 10's had an enjoyable first
blitz of the year in Edendork where we fielded 2 teams. This Saturday the Under
8's travel to the same venue leaving the club at 10am sharp. Minors League:
May 9th at 7:30 PM v Derrylaughan away.
Ladies: Well done to
the Minor Ladies team who reached the Minor Championship final with a superb
1-13 to 2-09 victory over Cappagh.
Club Notes from May 1st 2007.
Senior Football: It's early days so far in the ACL Tyrone League, but our Senior and Reserve footballers have put in a lot of effort and can be content with their results so far. During a busy few days for the Seniors they took 3 out of a possible 4 points - drawing at home to Killyclogher on Thursday evening, 1-09 to 0-12, but went clear top of Division 1A with a win on Sunday away to Cookstown, 0-13 to 1-14. The Reserves stayed in second place of the League with a total of 5 points from 6 after a hard earned 1-10 to 2-13 win away to Cookstown on Sunday. The next Senior and Reserve games will be at home versus Coalisland on Sunday 13th May.
Youth Football: The minors defeated Ardboe and drew with Cookstown at home over the past week. It's Championship fare in Augher against the home club on Wednesday 2nd May at 7:30PM. We wish the lads all the best in what is a very tough opening draw. All support is welcome. The next League game will be against Derrylaughan on the 9th May at 7:00PM. The Under 14's suffered a heavy defeat to Galbally in the league last week but with one game left they still top their group. Errigal Ciaran progressed last Saturday at the Feile in the village last weekend. The Under 10's play their first blitz on Saturday in Edendork leaving the club at 10:00AM. The Under 12's training will be on this Saturday at 10:30AM.
Sympathy: St Patrick’s

Adult Football: The Seniors and Reserves both sit in the top 3 of division 1A after the opening 2 games in their league campaigns. In their first home game the Seniors ground out a 0-10 to 0-07 win over Aghyaran, with the two Mulgrews in midfield and attack and the two Mc Cauls in defence all having fine performances. They sit joint top with the maximum 4 points alongside Coalisland and our fellow parishioners Galbally. It was a successful first outing for new club captain Richard Hetherington and we wish him and the team well in 2007. Before the game Paul and Christopher Faloon proprietors of new club sponsors The Fort officially presented new jerseys to Chairman Raymond Mc Cluskey on behalf of the Donaghmore Senior and Reserve teams. We would like to thank them for their continued support. The reserves picked up a fine 1-15 to 2-08 win over Aghyaran and now have 3 points out of a possible 4, leaving them second in the league, just behind Ardboe. Well done to the team and management on their promising start. There will be no adult football this weekend, but there will be a Friday and Sunday game next weekend.
Youth Football: The minors lost heavily to Errigal Ciaran after a promising start last Wednesday. Ten minutes into the second half there were only 2 points in the game. Within a short space of time Errigal had scored a couple of breakaway goals, which enabled them to run out comfortable winners on a flattering final scoreline of 0-10 to 4-13. Their next game is at home to Ardboe at 7 PM on Monday 23rd April. On the 25th April they will play Cookstown at home at 7 PM. The Under 14's defeated Ardboe and Coalisland and will play Galbally on the 24th April. They will play in Beragh in the Under 14 Championship at 12 00 this Saturday. Good luck to Christopher mc Gee and the Tyrone Vocationals who will play Meath in the All Ireland final scheduled for Clones on Sunday at 2 PM. Adult Football: St Patrick's Reserves travelled to Omagh and took a share of the spoils on a 0-11 to 0-11 scoreline. Conor Mc Ginn and Steven Mc Dermott played well for the Reserves in a game they could have won, but overall for Tony Mc Cann’s men it was an encouraging start to the season. Seniors: Omagh 1-11, Donaghmore 2-10 - The Seniors went one better than last year on opening day by winning in a resplendent Healy Park. Omagh as expected, provided tough opposition for St Patrick's. Manager Joe Faloon will have been encouraged by some of our younger forwards performances, and some of the quality football played in general, but will be aware that much work remains to be done. Two superbly worked goals in either half by Niall Mc Caul and substitute Kelvin Hughes put the seal on a fine win. There will be no ACL football this weekend.

to all who attended the first aid course for Gaelic Games this week.

St Patrick’s Day Celebrations and official opening of St Patrick's Primary School:
Friday was an historic day for our village
as the new school was given its official blessing and opening. So many people
had put so much energy and time into making this dream a reality and what a
magnificent testament the new St Patrick’s Primary school is to their
efforts. We wish all the pupils and staff well in their new home. On St Patrick's
day it was the turn of Blessed Patrick O’Loughran Primary school to step
into the limelight and what a wonderful St Patrick’s Day event it turned
out to be. In the words of Fr Gerard Mc Aleer the contribution in terms of singing,
instrumental music, drama, readings and dancing to the traditional St Patrick's
day Mass “was truly remarkable” given the age group of the pupils.
Congratulations to the pupils and their hard working staff for their time put
in organising this special day. Thanks to all the talented musicians and singers
who participated in the musical session on the street which survived the weather
and proved to be an extremely enjoyable day for all. Well done to the Cultural
sub committee who again left no stone unturned on another memorable afternoon.
Club Notes from March 6th 2007.

AGM
One of the largest crowds in recent years attended the Annual General Meeting
of St Patrick's GFC last Sunday at the Youth Club. Outgoing chairman Brian Faloon
welcomed members to the meeting, and introduced secretary Patsy Gallagher to
give his report which praised the outstanding discipline of the Donaghmore club
in 2006 - a factor which he believed contributed to their first appearance in
a league decider and reinforced our on field position as one of Tyrone’s
top clubs. As Patsy concluded he reflected on a 40-year association working
within the club and he paid tribute to the various personalities that he had
worked with during this time. Next Treasurer Patsy Hetherington delivered a
clear and comprehensive report on the clubs financial performance over the last
year. Youth officer Peadar Mc Cann thanked his network of coaches who assisted
in 2006 and expressed satisfaction that the hard work put in over the past number
of years finally appears to be bearing fruit with the club represented in 3
finals in 2006.
In his final address Chairman Brian Faloon signed off on 3 years work at the
top table by paying tribute to the work of the club volunteers over the past
3 years from committee, player to member. He made reference to the important
work being done by football club members in the schools of Carland, Castlecaulfield
and Donaghmore as the future members of our club were in these classrooms. He
wished the future chairperson and committee every success both on the field
in terms of championship
success and off the field success with the development of our facilities. The
floor duly responded and applauded the chairman for a very progressive term
of office. The 2006 committee were then stood down and the election of officers
for 2007 commenced under the appointed chairing of Francie Donnelly and Pete
Falls. After the usual AGM debate new Chairman Raymond Mc Cluskey brought matters
to a close, announcing that the first meeting of the 2007 committee will take
place next Monday 5th February at 7 30 PM in the youth club.

The Presentation Dinner Dance took place last Saturday night in the Glenavon
Hotel. The award winners were as follows: Player of the Year: Damian Mc Caul;
Reserve Player of the year: Ryan Falls; Most Improved player: Niall Mc Ginn:
Minor player of the Year: Shane Mulgrew. Special presentations were also made
to Joe Mc Caughey; Niall Mc Ginn and Eugene Hegarty for their success with Jordanstown
and Vocational school squads. Next, The minor team of 2006 who made history
by reaching only the second minor grade 1 in the clubs history were presented
with their medals by Fr Gerard Mc Aleer. Chairman Brian Faloon addressed the
large number of guests and spoke of the proud links that the club has had with
great Tyrone team of the past, mentioning the names of Patsy Devlin, Patsy Hetherington;
Adrian Cush; Brian Robinson and Seamus Mulgrew amongst others and in an inspiring
address he said he looked forward to the likes of Pat Doherty; Niall Mc Ginn;
Damian Mc Caul and Kelvin Hughes representing their county in 2007. Indeed Kelvin
had made the long dash from Breffni Park where he scored a fine point in the
Mc Kenna cup win against Cavan to join his County panel team-mate Damian Mc
Caul, unable to play for his county because of the current ruling. Perhaps the
most deserving award of the night was made to a somewhat surprised Patsy Gallagher,
our long serving secretary for a lifetime of service to the club. If any of
the rest of us can come close to matching your dedication Patsy – the
club will continue to prosper. To finish off John O Neill spoke passionately
on the exciting plans for the future development of the facilities. Those pulling
on the blue and Gold geansai each year know what challenges face them, now off
the field the rest of us must challenge ourselves to make this development happen.
Thanks to the Glenavon Hotel and staff for a wonderful meal, the Boogieman for
their 5 star show and Armagh legend Benny Tierney for his hilarious sketch.
